Participants will learn how biochar is produced, its effects on several soil properties and aspects of water pollution, and many ways biochar can be used in practice to remediate soils and waterways and grow trees and other plants.
Learning Objectives:
Describe basic methods of pyrolysis for biochar production.
Identify key improvements biochar can make to soils, stormwater systems, and growing media.
Understand how the lifecycle of biochar in the green and forestry industries creates a positive feedback loop of carbon sequestration, soil improvement, water pollution reduction, and improved land productivity.
